Welding Rolls are extremely important in tube welding process since they are “ forging “ the open flanges of tube while induction welding .
Welding rolls are heavily stressed under both mechanical and thermal point of view . For this reason can’t be made with the same steel grades used for the forming rolls .
Normally the best forming rolls are made with D2 ( 1.2379 ) steel , for welding rolls normally are used :
- special steel =
- bronze – alluminium alloys = harder hardness e slighlt iron magnetic , but always metals .
- hard metals = tungsten carbide
- industrial ceramics = Si3N4 ( silicate nitrited ) , they are the harder materails , extremely good wear reasistance and totally non iron magnetic .
